"Forbidden Love," written November 22, 2000

[Girl pacing back and forth her room]

This is wrong. At least I know it is. It feels so right. I don't have a lot, but I'll take what I get. I'd never imagined it'd be like this [Stops pacing] I mean who would have I thought I'd be this close to falling in love? Not me!

[Sits down "indian" style]

Lately everything's been different. I don't think he's the One. That's a long way off, but I know we're meant to be. I feel our togetherness is etched somewhere in time. Wait, is togetherness even a word?

[She pauses - thinking it over]

Oh well. It's not like someone's listening to me or anything.

[She stands]

I just don't know what to do. He feels it. I feel it. We can't do anything because of our age. Age has nothing to do with love. The heart knows no age. How can they deny me the chance of love? I'm sick of hiding it. We have to sneak around just to hold hands or to even see each other. I'm sick of it! What good is a heart if you're not supposed to feel with it? Who wants love to be forbidden love? Forbidden love indeed! Why can't they understand the way we feel?

[Wipes tears from her eyes]

I suppose I had better stop now. I'm already worked up and going into hysterics won't do anything. Why can't they see? All we want is a chance. Just one chance to love without being restricted.

[Starts walking off, then pauses]

(bitterly) Forbidden love

[Continues walking]

Lol, this cracks me up. I don't know what I was on when I wrote this. I think I listened to a little too much Madonna. I hope?
